Hi everyone!
I'm back with the first results of the triple performing facial emulsion by Benefit Cosmetics. I received the product a week ago and - after having used it every morning and evening - I decided to stop using it all over my face. In my previous blog post I mentioned I would replace the Kiehl's rare earth lotion with the Benefit emulsion for a while. The difference between these two products could not be bigger. The Kiehl's lotion is not really moisturising but does help control the oil production. The Benefit facial emulsion is very hydrating but doesn't seem to agree with my oily T-zone.
I have combination skin with dry cheeks, an oily T-zone and large pores around my nose. After have used the Benefit facial emulsion my cheeks were so soft, felt hydrated all day long and I had no more dry patches. So I was very pleased with that. But after 2 days of applying the facial emulsion day and night it broke me out on my forehead and nose. I decided to keep on using it for the rest of the week, but sadly no difference. I was still breaking out in my T-zone. For that reason I decided today to stop using it all over my face and just apply it on my cheeks. Because I do love having soft cheeks and it makes my make up look a lot more flawless. For the T-zone I will go back to Kiehl's. Using these two products might just be the easiest road to healthier looking skin.
So, would I recommend the new Benefit facial emulsion? Yes! It just depends on what your skin needs. It works wonders on dry skin and sensitive skin. People with combination skin on the dry side can use this as well, but need to make sure they only use it on the areas that need it. The smell really is great as well. Smells soft and fresh, almost like a cucumber. The pump dispenses small amounts at a time so it's easy to dose. I used about 4 pumps for my entire face and now 1 pump for each cheek. After a week only a little bit has left the bottle so - even if you use it on your entire face - you could make it last for at least 6 months. So it's definitely worth the money. Are you having doubts on whether or not to buy it? Maybe you should start with the intro kit. The intro kit includes travel size bottles of the facial polish, facial cream and facial emulsion. It only costs $ 12,- and will probably last you at least a month. So if you have dry skin, even just on certain areas of your face, give this a go and you will not be disappointed.
PS: review of the facial polish will be coming soon, but so far I'm loving it

Benefit's b.right skincare range : first impression
Hello lovely readers from across the globe!
It's a wonderful day today, you want to know why? Because today I received a package from one of my favourite brands, benefit. The Benefit team sent me 2 products from their brand new skincare range, b.right, to try out and review. You should know that I did receive the products for free but Benefit encourages honest reviews, so that's exactly what you're going to get.
So, let's get started, shall we?
The package contained the refined finish facial polish, the triple performing facial emulsion and a booklet with information on the entire skincare range.
The booklet promises (and I quote) "skincare essentials that cleanse, moisturize & specialize for a radiantly refreshed, lit from within look. Instantly turn on a brighter-looking, more youthful-appearing complexion!"
Can't help to get a little curious? Neither could I. So I went straight to opening the box of the facial polish.
First impression: sturdy yet elegant packaging. Soft blue container with a vintage looking sticker. I especially like the screw cap, which is plastic but was given a cork look. After tying my hair up and rinsing my face with some warm water I applied the refined finish facial polish (retails for $22,-). The smell is great! Even though it contains clay and seaweed it smells nothing like those things. It reminds me of having a facial at a beauty centre. The product feels soft on your skin, even though it contains rough grains. I don't have sensitive skin so people who do might want to gently massage the product on rather than scrubbing. After rinsing it off with water and dabbing my face dry with a towel my skin feels very clean, with not a trace of oil left on my T-zone. My pores don't seem smaller, but I didn't expect them to. This is after all just the first use. It’s recommended to use this polish once or twice a week. I normally use the Freeman apricot facial scrub but, at least for now, I’ll replace it with the Benefit polish. That way I can truly see what this baby can do and tell you about the results in a few weeks.
But, the absolute most essential item in anyone’s skincare routine is a moisturiser. So I continue with the triple performing facial emulsion (retails for $28,-).
First impression: hurray, it has an spf of 15! Oil free so great for my combination skin. Lovely, classic looking glass bottle with the same design on the cap. I didn’t really like the fact that it was a bottle (since having to pour a liquid substance on your hand can get quite messy). But a pleasant surprise awaited me when I took of the cap. It has a pump! Oh glorious day, they have thought of everything. The product itself has the substance of a lotion but when applying it to your skin it feels a lot different. It doesn’t sink in immediately but forms a layer on your skin. I can imagine that this must hydrate it better because you have enough time to spread it out. After about 5 minutes it has sunk into my skin completely, no residue or oiliness visible. My skin feels so smooth. Pores are still visible but no product has ever succeeded in getting rid of them, so no hard feelings. This would be the perfect stage to start applying my make up, but instead I decide to take it to the next level. I’m going to face the world without make up today (which I normally never do) to see how things will evolve.
Result: After 6 hour of walking around, riding my bike and working for school my skin still feels hydrated and fresh. I don’t have an oily T-zone, which is a first. So I’m pretty impressed. I will apply make up again tomorrow, because my friends told me I looked a bit tired. For the following weeks I will replace my Kiehl’s rare earth pore minimizing lotion with the facial emulsion from Benefit and I’ll be back with the final results afterwards.
